Remove the rocker arm shaft assembly, Refer to "Rocker Arms and Rocker Arm Shafts" section.
Disconnect the breather hose and the PCV hose.
Remove the coolant pump pulley and crankshaft pulley.
Remove the timing belt cover.
Move the timing belt tensioner pulley toward the coolant pump and temporarily secure it.
Remove the timing belt from the camshaft sprocket.
Remove the camshaft sprocket.
Remove the ignition coil assembly. (1.1 L only)
Remove the rocker cover.
Remove the rocker arm shaft assembly, Refer to "Rocker Arms and Rocker Arm Shafts" section.
Remove the camshaft bearing caps. (1.3 L)
Remove the camshaft from front side to rear. (1.1 L)
Remove the camshaft.
Check the caqmshaft journals for wear. If the journals are badly worn, replace the camshaft.
Check the cam olbes for damage. If the lobe is damaged or worn excessively, replace the camshaft.

Check the cam surface for dbnormal wear or damage, and replace if necessary.
Check each bearing for damage. If the bearing surface is excessively damagedm, Replace the cylinder head assembly or camshaft bearing cap, as necessary.
Check the lips for wear. If lip threads are worn, replace.
Check the oil seal lip contacting surface of the camshaft. If it is worn in stages, replace the camshaft.
Camshaft end play
1.3 L : 0.07 ~ 0.28 mm (0.0003 ~ 0.0011 in.)
1.1 L : 0.07 ~ 0.19 mm (0.0003 ~ 0.0007 in.)
Install the camshaft after lubricating the journal of the camshaft with engine oil.
Install the camshaft bearing caps. (1.3 L)
Install the ignition coil (1.1 L)
Install the rocker arm and rocker arm shaft.
Refer to the "Rocker Arms and Rocker Arm Shafts" section.
Using the Special Tools, Camshaft Oil Seal Installer (09221-21000), press and fit the camshaft oil seal. Be sure to apply engine oil to the external surface of the ouil seal.
Insert the oil seal along the camshaft front end and install by driving the installer with a hammer until the oil seal is fully seated.
Install the camshaft sprocket and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening torque
Camshaft sprocket bolt :
80 ~ 100 Nm (800 ~ 1000 kg.cm, 59 ~ 74 lb.ft)
Align the camshaft sprocket and crankshaft sprocket timing marks. The piston in the No. 1 cylinder will then be at top dead center on the compression stroke.
Intall a gasket in the rocket cover groove.
Temporarily install the rocker cover.
Start the engine and run at idle.
Install the rocker cover and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.
Tightening torque
Rocker cover bolt : 8~10Nm (80~100 kg.cm, 6~7 lb.ft)
Install the timing belt cover.
Install the coolant pump pulley and crankshaft pulley.
