Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination,deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

YES

a.

Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure

NO

a.

Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Supply Circuit Inspection
1.

Key "ON" & ENG "OFF".

2.

Measure voltage between terminal 2 of the Vehicle speed sensor harness connector and chassis ground. (Connect wheel speed sensor connector)

a.

Specification : Approx. B+

3.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair open or short to ground in harness, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Check short to ground in harness.

Key "OFF".

(2)

Disconnect PCM connector.

(3)

Disconnect wheel speed sensor connector.

(4)

Measure resistance between terminal 3 of the vehicle speed sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

a.

Specification : Infinite

(5)

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Check open in harness" as follows.

NO

a.

Repair short to ground in harness, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

2.

Check open in harness

(1)

Key "OFF".

(2)

Disconnect PCM connector.

(3)

Disconnect wheel speed sensor connector.

(4)

Measure resistance between terminal 59 of PCM/ECM harness connector and terminal 3 harness cnnector.

a.

Specification : Approx. below 1Ω

(5)

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Component inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair Open circuit and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit inspection
1.

Key "OFF".

2.

Disconnect VSS connector.

3.

Key "ON" & ENG "OFF".

4.

Measure the voltage between terminal 3 of VSS harness connector and chassis ground.(A)

5.

Measure the voltage between terminal 3 and 1 of VSS harness connector.(B)

a.

Specification : "A" - "B" = Below 200mV

6.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

YES

a.

Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Repair Open in signal circuit and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
