CURRENT DATA

VSS generates a frequency that is proportional to the speed of the vehicle. When the vehicle is moving at a relatively low velocity, the sensor generates signal with a low frequency. While the vehicle velocity increases, the sensor generates signal with a higher frequency. Vehicle speed signal should be detected in driving and should be always constant at stop. For checking the wiring from the ECM to the speedometer, make sure that the vehicle speed current data with the speedometer should be changed.

IS VEHICLE SPEED SIGNAL DISPLAYED PROPERLY ?

YES

a.

Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor’s and/or ECM’s connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared.

b.

Check for intermittent fault by observing the data parameter for a sudden change while wiggling the wiring and tapping lightly on the suspect component.

Be careful not to damage wires or components during the test.

Repair as necessary and go to " Verification of Vehicle Repair " procedure

Go to " W/Harness Inspection " procedure.
