Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(s) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
Check the following conditions:
Check for damaged harness and terminals: contact resistance, oxidation, bent or broken terminals.
Check for poor connection between ECM and component: backed out terminal, improper mating, broken locks or poor terminal to wire connection
Use a suitable male pin to ensure that contact in sockets is good. The pin should remain in position when pulled gently.
Has a problem been found?
YES
Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO
System OK. Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
Turn ignition switch to OFF and disconnect PCSV connector.
Turn ignition switch to ON
Measure voltage of PCSV battery power circuit between PCSV harness connector and chassis ground.
Probe(+) : PCSV harness connector NO1.
Probe(-) : Chassis ground.
Specification: Approximately 12V
Is the voltage within specification?
YES
Go to "Inspection of signal circuit open"
NO
Open circuit or short circuit to chassis ground between PSV harness connector and battery power circuit
Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure
1.In case the voltage at terminal 1 of PCSV is 0 V when PCSV is disconnected.
Possible cause:Open or short circuit in battery power line after fuse(15A INJ)
Turn ignition switch to ON and connect PCSV connector and ECM connector.
Measure voltage between PCSV hanress connector and ECM harness connector.
Probe(+) : ECM harness connector NO46.
Probe(-) : Chassis ground.
Specification: Approximately 12V
Is voltage within Specification?
YES
Go to "SHORT CIRCUIT INSPECTION FOR SIGNAL LINE"
NO
Open circuit between PCSV harness connector and ECM harness connector
Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"
In case the measured voltage is 0V when checking control line
Possible cause:If the measured voltage indicates 0V,the problem is that control line is open, so check the open circuit between terminal 46 of ECM and terminal 2 of PCSV
Turn ignition switch to OFF and disconnect PCSV connector and ECM connector.
Measure resistance between PCSV harness connector and Chassis ground at PCSV signal circuit.
Probe(+) : PCSV harness connector NO2.
Probe(-) : Chassis ground.
Specification: infinite
Does each resistance indicates continuity circuit?
YES
Go to "Component Inspection"
NO
Short circuit to chassis ground between PCSV harness connector and ECM harness connector
Short circuit between PCSV battery power circuit and signal circuit
Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair"
