Release the parking brake.
After removing the wheel, remove the brake drum.
When removing the brake drum, remove the screw.
Remove the adjuster spring and adjuster lever.
Remove the cup washer, shoe hold down spring, shoe hold down pin.
Move the shoe and remove the shoe adjuster.
Remove the lower shoe spring and upper shoe spring and disconnect the parking cable from the operating lever.
Apply the specified grease to the locations indicated in the illustration and to each component.
Shoe and backing plate contact surfaces.
Shoe and anchor plate contact surfaces.
Recommended grease :
Multipurpose grease SAE J310, NLGI No.2
Connect the operating lever to the parking cable.
Install the shoe hold-down pin.
Install the shoe adjuster and assemble the return spring.
Assemble the adjuster lever and adjuster spring.
Assemble the drum and pull the parking brake lever to full stroke several times.
Be sure that the inside surface of drum is not contaminated by grease or other materials.
Be sure the maximum outer diameter of shoe is within the specifications and install the drum.
Without ABS (7"drum) Ø179.5~179mm (7.07~7.05 in.)
With ABS (8"drum) Ø202.2~201.7mm (7.96~7.94 in.)
Adjust the shoe clearance by depressing the brake pedal more than 20 times with a force of 10 kgf.
Remove the brake shoe.
Disconnect the brake tube.
Remove the wheel cylinder assembly.
Remove the dust boot.
Remove the piston and piston cup.
Remove the return spring.
Before assembling the wheel cylinder, inspect the following.
Check the cylinder and piston for wear, damage and dust.
Check the cylinder body for damage and cracks.
Check the contact surface of the piston and shoes for wear.
Check the piston spring for looseness.
Assembly is the reverse of removal.
Clean the cylinder and inner parts with isopropyl alcohol before assembly.
Apply enough brake fluid to the piston cups and cylinder.
Be sure to use new piston cups and dust boots.
Be careful not to lose the steel ball in the bleeder.
Measure the inside diameter of the brake drum.
Check the runout of the brake drum by using a dial indicator.

Inspect the brake lining and drum for proper contact.
Inspect the wheel cylinder outside for excessive wear and damage.
Inspect the backing plate for wear or damage.
