Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
Has a problem been found?
YES
Repair as necessary and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure
NO
Go to "W/Harness Inspection" procedure
Check for open/short circuit in harness
Ignition "OFF"
Disconnect Vehicle speed sensor.
Ignition "ON"
Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor signal line and chassis ground
Specification :Approx. 9.5V
Is the measured voltage within specifications?
YES
Go to "Power circuit Inspection" procedure.
NO
Check for open/short circuit in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check for open/short circuit in harness
Ignition "OFF"
Disconnect Vehicle speed sensor.
Ignition "ON"
Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor power terminal and chassis ground
Specification : 9~16 V
Is the measured voltage within specifications?
YES
Go to "Ground circuit Inspection" procedure.
NO
Check for open/short circuit in power harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
Check for open/short circuit in harness
Ignition "OFF"
Disconnect Vehicle speed sensor.
Ignition "ON"
Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor signal line and chassis ground
Measure voltage between Vehicle speed sensor power and ground terminal
Specification : |(Voltage from procedure 4) - (Voltage from procedure 5)| < 200mV
Is the diffrence between two measured voltage within specifications?
YES
Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
NO
Check for open/short circuit in ground harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
