Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

YES

a.

Repair as necessary and go to "Verification Vehicle Repair" procedure.

NO

a.

Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1. Check for open in harness
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect left outside mirror.

3.

Measure resistance between terminal "B20" of Powerwindow main switch and terminal "12" of left outside mirror.

a.

Specification :Approx. 0 Ω

4.

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Check for short in harness" procedure.

NO

a.

Check for open in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

2. Check for short in harness
5.

Ignition "OFF".

6.

Disconnect left outside mirror.

7.

Measure resistance between terminal "12" of left outside mirror and chassis ground.

a.

Specification :Approx. ∞ Ω

8.

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Power circuit Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Check for short in signal harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Power Supply Circuit Inspection
1. Motor Power circuit Inspection
1.

Check for open in harness

(1)

Ignition "OFF".

(2)

Disconnect left outside mirror.

(3)

Measure resistance between terminal "A2" of Powerwindow mainswitch and terminal "3" of left outside mirror

(4)

Measure resistance between terminal "A3" of Powerwindow mainswitch and terminal "2" of left outside mirror

Specification :Approx. 0 Ω

(5)

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Check for short in harness" procedure.

NO

a.

Check for open in motor power harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

2.

Check for short in harness

(1)

Ignition "OFF".

(2)

Disconnect left outside mirror.

(3)

Measure resistance between terminal "3" of left outside mirror and chassis ground.

(4)

Measure resistance between terminal "2" of left outside mirror and chassis ground.

Specification :Approx. ∞ Ω

(5)

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Sensor Power circuit Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Check for short in power harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

2. Sensor Power circuit Inspection

Ignition "OFF"

4.

Disconnect left outside mirror.

5.

Measure voltage between terminal "9" of left outside mirror and chassis ground

a.

Specification : Approx. 5V

6.

Is the measured voltage within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Ground circuit Inspection" procedure.

NO

a.

Check for open or short in harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit inspection
1. Check for open in harness
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect left outside mirror.

3.

Measure resistance between terminal "10" of left outside mirror and chassis ground

a.

Specification :Approx. 0 Ω

4.

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "Component Inspection " procedure.

NO

a.

Check for open in ground harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
