To remove the back panel, drill out all spotwelds attaching the rear bumper upper center mounting bracket.
Remove the rear bumper upper center mounting bracket.
Measure and mark the cutlines on the back panel (partial). Cut the back panel along the cutlines.
When cutting the back panel (partial), take care not to cut through rear floor end cross member.
Drill out all spotwelds attaching the back panel (partial).
Remove the back panel (partial).
Clean cut portion with a grinder.
After removing, apply the welding primer.
Measure and mark the cutlines on the new back panel (partial). Cut the back panel (partial) along the cutlines.
Drill 8mm holes along the new back panel (partial) flanges for MIG plug welding.
Fit and clamp the back panel (partial) in place.
Measure each measurement point (Refer to the BodyDimensions) and correct the installation position.
MIG butt weld the seams and MIG plug weld all holes.
Clean cut portions with a grinder.
After removing, apply the welding primer.
Drill 8mm holes along the new rear bumper upper center mounting bracket flanges for MIG plug welding.
Fit and clamp the new rear bumper upper center mounting bracket in place.
Measure each measurement point and correct the installation position.
MIG plug weld all holes.
Clean and prepare all welds, remove all residues.
Apply an anti-corrosion to the interior of the back panel (Refer to the Corrosion Protection).
Prepare exterior surfaces for priming, using wax and grease remover.
Apply metal conditioner and water rinse.
Apply conversion coating and water rinse.
Apply the correct seam sealer to all joints (Refer to the Body Sealing Locations).
Reprime over the seam sealer to complete the repair.
