Termminal & Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminal condition. Faults can also becaused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical systems or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" Procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" Procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "ON"& Engine "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the SPAS Sensor - Front Right connetor.

3.

Measure the voltage between the power circuit of the SPAS Sensor - Front Right and the body ground.

Specification : about 12V

4.

Is the measured value within specifications?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" Procedure.

▶ Check the open or short to ground of the power cirucit.

And then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Check short to battery in signal circuit
1.

Ignition "ON"& Engine "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the SPAS Sensor - Front Right connetor.

3.

Measure the voltage between the signal circuit of the SPAS Sensor - Front Right and the body ground.

Specification : about 0V

4.

Is the measured value within specifications?

▶ Go to "Check open or short to ground in signal circuit " procedure.

▶ Check the short of the battery on the Signal circuit.

And then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check open or short to ground in signal circuit
5.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"

6.

Disconnect the SPAS Sensor - Front Right and SPAS connector.

7.

Measure the resistance between the SPAS Sensor - Front Right and and the body ground.

8.

Measure the resistance between the SPAS Sensor - Front Right and SPAS siganl circuit.

Specification : Infinite (Measured the short to ground)

about lower 1Ω (Measured the open)

9.

Is the measured value within specifications?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" Procedure.

▶ Check the open or short to ground of the signal cirucit.

And then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the SPAS Sensor - Front Right.

3.

Measure the resistance between the ground circuit of the SPAS Sensor - Front Right and the body ground.

Specification : about below 1 Ω

4.

Is the measured value within specifications?

▶ Substitute with a known-good Sampe of SPAS Sensor - Front Right and check for proper peration.

If problem is corrected, replace SPAS Sensor - Front Right and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check the open of the ground cirucit.

And then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
