W/Harness Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "CAN communication circuit inspection" procedure.

CAN register and communication line inspection
■ CAN register and communication line inspection 1
1.

IG key "OFF".

2.

PCM, TPMS , EPS, Cluster, A.A.F, FATC, ….connector.

3.

Measure registance between terminal 3 and 11 of diagnostic connector.

Specification : About 60 Ω

4.

Is the measured registance within specification ?

▶ Check PCM,ABS/ESC , A A F, FATC, connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to next procedure.

▶ If the measured value is out of specification, repair or replace 120Ω CAN register(Inside of PCM and Cluster and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ If the measured value is lower than 10Ω, repair or replace CAN High and CAN Low are short each other. And then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ If the measured value is ∞ Ω, repair or replace the open in CAN High /CAN Low circuit. And then, go to 'Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to next procedure.

5.

IG KEY OFF

6.

Disconnect PCM connector and Cluster connector.

7.

Measure resistance between terminal CAN Low and CAN High of PCM.

8.

Measure resistance between terminal CAN Low and CAN High of Cluster.

Specification : About 120 Ω

9.

Is the measured value within specification ?

▶ Go to next procedure.

▶ Substitute with a known-good "PCM , Cluster" and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "PCM , Cluster" and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check short to battery in CAN communication line.
1.

IG key "OFF".

2.

Disconnect PCM, ABS/ESP, Cluster, A A F, FATC connector.

3.

IG KEY "ON"

4.

Measure voltage between CAN high terminal(# 3) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

5.

Measure voltage between CAN low terminal(#11) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Specification : About 0V
