W/Harness Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "CAN communication circuit inspection" procedure.

CAN Communication line check
■ CAN communication circuit inspection (ECM ↔A.A.F)
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Disconnect A.A.F connector and ECM connector.

3.

Measure the resistance between CAN-HIGH terminal of A.A.F harness connector and CAN-HIGH terminal of ECM harness connector.

4.

Measure the resistance between CAN-LOW terminal of A.A.F harness connector and CAN-LOW terminal of ECM harness connector.

Specification : below 1Ω

5.

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

▶ Check ECM, A.A.F connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check for open/short in harness.

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check short to ground in CAN communication line
6.

IG KEY OFF.

7.

Measure resistnace between CAN high terminal (# 3) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

8.

Measure resistance between CAN low terminal (# 11) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Specification : ∞ Ω

9.

Is the measured value within specification ?

▶ Check ECM, A.A.F connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check short to ground in communication line. And then, go to 'Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
