Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found ?

	▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Go to "Power circuit Inspection" procedure.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect ICU connector.

3.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF".

4.

Measure voltage between Engine Control Relay Power of ICU harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : B+

5.

Is the measured voltage within specifications ?

	▶ Go to "Signal circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Check for open or short in harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect ICU and ECM/PCM connector.

3.

Measure resistance between signal terminal of ICU harness connector and ECM/PCM harness connector.

Specification : 1 Ω or less

4.

Is the measured voltage within specifications ?

	▶ Go to "Check for short in harness" procedure.
	▶ Check for open in signal harness. Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF".

6.

Connect ICU connector.

7.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF".

8.

Measure voltage between signal terminal of ICU harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 10V

9.

Is the measured voltage within specifications ?

▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in ICU’s and/or ECM/PCM connector or was repaired and ICU’s and/or ECM/PCM memory was not cleared.

Therefore, Check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check with trial ICU and/or ECM/PCM to see the performance and if the problem is resolved, replace and go to verification.

▶ After replacing ICU and/or ECM/PCM, perform Key teaching procedure with scantool.

▶ Check for short in harness. Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
