The TPMS is the acronym for Tire Pressure Monitoring System. This system monitors the pressure of the tire and when it drops below a certain pressure, the TPMS ECU makes the warning lamp turn on for notifying the driver. This system consists of TPMS ECU(or TPMS Receiver), Initiators and TPMS sensors. Among components of TPMS system, the TPMS sensor is installed at each wheel rim. and its role is to measure the air pressure and the temperature of the tire and then it transmits its signals to TPMS ECU. The communication from TPMS sensors is done via RF(Radio Frequency) at a frequency.
The TPMS ECU gets signals of the vehicle speed and then uses thoses for auto-learning and judgment for DTC.
The TPMS ECU sets DTC B1611 if vehicle speed signal has not been received through the CAN signal.
Item | Detecting Condition | Possible Cause |
DTC Strategy |
•
CAN Signal Check | 1. Poor connection 2. Faulty wheel Speed Sensor 3. CAN communication |
Enable Conditions |
•
Start from when vehicle signal is coming in | |
Threshold value |
•
When invalid vehicle signal is coming in for 3 seconds
•
Not received vehicle signal for 3 seconds
•
For 3 seconds, vehicle speed is 0KPH and more than 2 wheel speed is over 25KPH |
