LKAS is an abbreviation of Lane Keeping Assist System. During vehicle operation at 60 km/h, if the vehicle gets out of the existing lane, LKAS helps the driver to maintain the vehicle within the lane through steering wheel control and alarm. LKAS exchanges CAN data with each unit to control the MDPS motor.
The LKAS module monitors the CAN line, and, if a MDPS signal is not received for a certain period of time, it generates the fault code C168787, turning on the warning indicator.
Note that, if LKAS does not receive a message due to lack of power for 2 seconds after IGN ON, MDPS does not send a message to LKAS and the Malfunction Indicator Lamp is turned on.
