LKAS is an abbreviation of Lane Keeping Assist System. During vehicle operation at 60 km/h, if the vehicle gets out of the existing lane, LKAS helps the driver to maintain the vehicle within the lane through steering wheel control and alarm. LKAS exchanges CAN data with each unit to control the MDPS motor.
LKAS sends out a signal to begin control of MDPS. If it does not receive a response from MDPS, it cannot control MDPS and regards this as a fault condition, saving a fault code.
While communicating with MDPS via CAN, if MDPS does not respond to the control command sent by LKAS, LKAS generates the fault code C168886 and turns on the Malfunction Indicator Lamp.
