Terminal and Connector inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure

▶ Go to " Signal Circuit Inspection " procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
■ Power ciucuit inspection
1.

IG "ON" and disconnect Oil Level sensor connector.

2.

Measure voltage between Power supply terminal and chassis ground,

Specification : Approx, 12V

3.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Ground circuit inspection" as follows.

▶ Repair open or short in harnesses and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

■ Ground circuit inspection
4.

IG "ON" and disconnect Oil Level sensor connector.

5.

Measure voltage between ground terminal and chassis ground,

Specification : Approx. 0V

6.

Is the measured voltage within specification ?

▶ Go to "Open circuit inspection" as follows.

▶ Repair short in harnesses and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".

■ Open circuit inspection
7.

IG "OFF" and disconnect Oil Level sensor and ECM connector.

8.

Measure resistance between Power supply terminal of Oil Level sensor harness Connector and ECM connector.

9.

Measure resistance between Ground terminal of Oil Level sensor harness Connector and ECM connector.

Specification : Approx. 0 Ω

10.

Is the measured resistance within specification ?

▶ Substitute with a known - good Oil Lecel sensor and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace Oil Level sensor and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair short to ground or open in harnesses and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair".
