Component Inspection
■ Check EGR ACTUATOR motor operating
1.

Disconnect EGR actuator from vehicle

2.

IG key ON

3.

Check ECR valve sticking using actuation test of scan tool.

4.

Replace EGR actuator if EGR valve is stuck and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check EGR ACTUATOR motor resistance
5.

IG key OFF.

6.

Disconnect 'EGR ACTUATOR' connector.

7.

Check resistance between motor (+) and motor (-)

Specification : 6~170Ω (20°C)

8.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Check resistance of EGR vavle position sensor" procedure.

▶ Check EGR actuator, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

9.

IG key OFF.

10.

Disconnect 'EGR ACTUATOR' connector.

11.

Check resistance between supply terminal and ground terminal of EGR actuator

Specification : 172Ω (20°C)

12.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Check signal waveform of EGR vavle motor and position sensor" procedure.

▶ Check EGR actuator, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

13.

Connect EGR actuator.

14.

Place oscilloscope probe at motor(+) and motor (-)

15.

Check signal waveform at idle and acceleration over 3000RPM

Fig.1) EGR actuator motor(-) is controlled at idle or deceleration

Fig.2) EGR actuator motor(+) is controlled at acceleration

Open and close repeats 2 times for learning after IG key OFF and engine temperature is over 70℃

16.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check EGR actuator, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

note

In case of replacing EGR actuator , perform the "COMPONENT CHANGE ROUTINE" procedure with scan tool. If the "COMPONENT CHANGE ROUTINE" procedure has not completed until automatic learning completed, it may cause vehicle performance and exhaust gas problem.
