EPS uses an electric motor to provide directional contol to the driver. To confirm operating state of the motor is essential for controlling the EPS system as intended.
ESP CM measures motor velocity by using motor position sensor and motor output torque by using current sensor to confirm whether the motor operates normally or not. After measure then it compares measured values and calculated values. EPS CM sets this coed and turns on warning lamp if there is a difference between two values.
Item | Detecting Condition | Possible cause |
DTC Strategy | ● Check motor velocity, torque signal | ● Faulty Motor ● Faulty Motor position sensor ● Faulty current sensor |
Enable conditions | ● Engine ON
Threshold value | ● Comparion value not the same
Fail Safe | ● EPS warning lamp "ON"
Restoration conditions | ● Normal condition after IG on → off |
