Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found ?

YES

a.

Repair as necessary and then go to ＂Verification of Vehicle Repair＂procedure.

NO

a.

Go to ＂Signal Circuit Inspection＂procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition ＂OFF＂

2.

Disconnect EPS CM connector.

3.

Measure resistance between terminal ＂5＂ & ＂6＂of EPS CM harness connector.

1)

Specification : Approx. 60 Ω

4.

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to "CAN Circuit Inspection(short to ground)＂ procedure.

NO

a.

Check for open or short in CAN Circuit between terminal ＂5＂& ＂6＂of EPS CM harness connector.and then go to ＂Verification of Vehicle Repair＂procedure.

CAN Circuit Inspection(short to ground)
5.

Ignition ＂OFF＂.

6.

Disconnect EPS CM connector.

7.

Measure resistance between terminal ＂5＂ & ＂6＂of EPS CM harness connector and chassis ground.

1)

Specification : Approx ∞ Ω

8.

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Check for ＂CAN Circuit Short Inspection(LOW & HIGH)＂Inspection procedure.

NO

a.

Check for short to ground in CAN HIGH signal harness in case abnormal resistance is measured between terminal ＂6＂of the EPS CM harness connector and chassis ground. Repair as necessary and then go to ＂Verification of vehicle Repair＂procedure.

b.

Check for short to ground in CAN LOW signal harness in case abnormal resistance is measured between terminal ＂5＂ of the EPS CM harness connector and chassis ground. Repair as necessary and then go to ＂Verification of vehicle Repair＂procedure

9.

Ignition ＂OFF＂.

10.

Disconnect EPS,PCU,ECS,HECU,connector(All Can bus Circuit).

11.

Measure resistance between terminal ＂5＂& ＂6＂ of EPS CM harness connector and chassis ground.

1)

Specification : Approx 120Ω

12.

Is the measured resistance within specifications?

YES

a.

Go to ＂Component Inspection＂ procedure.

NO

a.

Check for short in CAN signal harness between terminal connector ＂5＂& ＂6＂of EPS CM.

Repair as necessary and then go to ＂Verification of vehicle Repair＂procedure.
