IPM(Inter Panel Module) monitors IGN SW input voltage to operate that system is normal.
In case that IGN switch input voltage is abnormal, because of system malfunction, check battery and charging system.
When IGN input voltage to IPM is not effective for 500msec such as ACC OFF, & IGN1 OFF & IGN 2 ON status, IPM sets DTC.
Item | Detecting Condition | Possible Cause |
DTC Strategy | ● Check IGN status | ● Check Battery Voltage ● Check Ignition switch contact point or open in Fuse |
Enable Conditions | ● IGN ON
Threshold Value | ● - | |
Diagnostic Time | ● 500ms after failure detected
DTC Erasing Time | ● DTC is erased immediately after trouble fixed (In case of the past error, perform DTC erasing procedure.) |
Connect GDS.
IG "ON" and engine "OFF".
Select "DTC Analysis" mode.
After erase DTC, keep the vehicle condition within "the enable conditions" (Refer to "DTC Detecting Condition" table).
Is the same DTC occurred again?
![]() | ▶ Go to next procedure. |
![]() | ▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or IPM's connector or was repaired and IPM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.
Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.
Has a problem been found?
![]() | ▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
![]() | ▶ Go to "Check Charging system" procedure. |
ENG "ON" and Turn On the electrical load such as Head light and Heater.
Check battery voltage(+) and (-) after accellerating 2500 engine RPM at idle status for 2 min.
Specification : About 9 ≤ Vbatt ≤ 16
Is the measured voltage within specification ?
![]() | ▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure. |
![]() | ▶ Check Fuse from Alternator to battery and connection of connector and harness. And then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. ▶ If harness connection is O.K, howerever, over voltage is detected, repair or replace alternator and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair' procedure. |
IG "OFF".
Wait for 1 min. after disconnecting battery (-) cable.
Disconnect IPM connector.
IG "ON" after connecting battery (-) terminal.
Measure voltage between ON/START terminal of IPM harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification : About 9 ≤ Vbatt ≤ 16
Is the measured voltage within specification ?
![]() | ▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure. |
![]() | ▶ Thoroughly check Point of Ignition switch between SSB SW and IPM, Fuse status, connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
IG "OFF".
Wait for 1 min. after disconnecting battery (-) terminal.
Disconnect IPM connector.
Measure resistance between Ground Terminal of IPM harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification : About below 1 Ω.
Is the measured value within specification ?
![]() | ▶ Substitute with a known - good IPM and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace the IPM and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
![]() | ▶ Check open in harness and repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. |
After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.
Connect scan tool and select "DTC Analysis" mode.
Clear the DTCs and Operate the vehicle within DTC Enable conditions in General information.
Is any DTC outputted again?
![]() | ▶ Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure. |
![]() | ▶ System performing to specification at this time. |
