General Description

TCU receives shift lever position signal When driver sets shift lever at the R position for backward driving. TCU transfers it to cluster by high CAN communication. Cluster transfers it to RAM by low CAN communication. RAM turns on back up lamp.

DTC Description

This code is set when back up lamp and backwarning system circuit is shortted to ground for more than 150ms during back up lamp and backwarning system operating.

Diagnostic Circuit Diagram
Scantool Data Analysis
1.

Connect GDS.

2.

IG "ON" and engine "OFF".

3.

Select "DTC Analysis" mode.

4.

After erase DTC, keep the vehicle condition within "the enable conditions" (Refer to "DTC Detecting Condition" table).

5.

Is the same DTC occurred again?

▶ Go to next procedure.

▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor's and/or RAM's connector or was repaired and RAM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ Check back up lamp and backwarning system
6.

IG "OFF" and connect scantool

7.

IG "ON" & ENG "OFF"

8.

Select "Actuation Test" mode.

9.

Execute "back up lamp and backwarning system" test.

10.

Is back up lamp and backwarning system working normal ?

▶ Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to next procedure.

Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Back Up Lamp and Backwarning System Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Back Up Lamp and Backwarning System Circuit Inspection
■ Check short to ground in harness
1.

IG "OFF", disconnect battery (-) terminal.

2.

Disconnect RAM, back up lamp and backwarning system connector.

3.

Measure resistance between the back up lamp and backwarning system terminal of RAM harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification: infinity

4.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

▶ Substitute with a known - good BWS and check for proper operation.

If the problem is corrected, replace the BSW and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Substitute with a known - good FAM and check for proper operation.

If the problem is corrected, replace the FAM and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Repair short to ground in circuit of back up lamp and backwarning system, and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Verification of Vehicle Repair

After a repair, it is essential to verify that the fault has been corrected.

1.

Connect scan tool and select "DTC Analysis" mode.

2.

Clear the DTCs and Operate the vehicle within DTC Enable conditions in General information.

3.

Is any DTC outputted again?

▶ Go to the applicable troubleshooting procedure.

▶ System performing to specification at this time.
