First of all check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.

When engine cranking is impossible although adjustment of inhibitor switch is normal, Inspect the starting system circuit.

Measure the voltage of the start relay terminal. (FAM side)

Symptom

Inspection procedure

Case1

● Battery voltage is NOT supplied at terminal "30"

● Repair fusible link blown. (The fusible link supplies battery power to start relay)

● If fusible link is blown again, Repair short to ground in power supply circuit.

● If fusible link is NOT blown, Replace the FAM.

Case2

● Battery voltage is NOT supplied on the termianl "85" at IG KEY "START"

● Repair fuse blown. [The fuse supplies battery power to start relay coil (ST signal circuit)].

● Repair poor connection, normal operation of the burglar alarm relay and Check that a burglar alarm relay is genuine or not.

● Repair the TCM. (Start relay #2 is controlled by TCM.)

● If TCM controls start relay #2 normally but there is no power supply at 85 terminal of the start relay #1, Replace the FAM assembly.

Measure the resistance between start relay connector terminal "86" and chassis ground.

■ Specification : Continuity (Below 1.0 Ω)

Symptom		Inspection procedure
Case1	● Open or poor connection between terminal 86 and chassis ground.	● Repair open and poor connection in ground circuit between start relay connector terminal "86" and chassis ground.
Case2	● Resistance between terminal 86 and chassis ground is continuity.	● Go to "next inspection" as below.

Actuate the start relay using jump wire between terminal "30" and "87" directly.

■ Specification : Starter should be actuated.

Symptom

Inspection procedure

Case1

● Starter is NOT actuated. (After connecting terminal "30" and terminal "87" directly.)

● Repair open between terminal "87" of start relay and ST terminal of starter.

● If ST signal circuit is normal, Replace the starter after checking B+ terminal normal, starter ground.

Case2

● Starter is actuated well. (After connecting terminal "30" and terminal "87" directly.)

● Go to "Start relay inspection".
