When poor acceleration occurs or excessive black smoke is discharged or engine stalls, Inspect intake system leakage, faulty MAFS and EGR Actuator valve stuck by monitoring MAFS and EGR Actuator current data.
IG KEY "ON", ENGINE "ON".
Connect scantool to Data Link Connector (DLC).
Allow the engine to warm up to normal operating temperature.
Electrical system and A/CON "OFF".
Select "Air Mass Flow per Cylinder", "EGR Actuator" and "Engine speed" parameters on the scantool.
Monitor "Air Mass Flow per Cylinder" data when "EGR Actuator" is not operated (4.7 %).
Monitor "Air Mass Flow per Cylinder" data when "EGR Actuator" is operated (Approx. 40~51 %).
■ Specification :
☞ "EGR Actuator" is NOT operated (4.7 %) at idle : 450mg/st ± 20mg/st (720±50RPM)
☞ "EGR Actuator" is operated (40~55 %) at idle : lower than EGR actuastor is not operated.
☞ EGR actuator is operated for approx. 60 seconds after racing the accelerator pedal at warm up idle (Neutral, Load is not applied) and "EGR actuator" duty is to 4.7 % after 60 seconds.
Symptom | Inspection procedure | |
Case1 | ● "Air Mass Flow per Cylinder" data by operating EGR actuator is normal | ● Go to "VGT system inspection" |
Case2 | ● "Air Mass Flow per Cylinder" data is lower than 350 mg/st although "EGR Actuator" data is 4.7 %. | ● Inspect EGR actuator open stuck after checking intake hose leakage between MAFS and turbo charger. ● Inspect throttle flap valve close stuck. |
Case3 | ● "Air Mass Flow per Cylinder" data is above 400 mg/st although "EGR Actuator" data is 40 ~ 50% (EGR actuator is operated). | ● Inspect blocked EGR cooler or EGR actuator close stuck after checking intake hose leakage between intake manifold and turbo charger (through intercooler) |
