Excessive exhaust smokes or high exhaust gas temperature could be caused by poor acceleration and poor power in common rail diesel engine. Therefore, turbocharger and catalytic converter (or CPF : Catalyzed Particulate Filter) could be damaged by excessive exhaust smokes or high exhaust gas temperature..
Incase of poor acceleration, do not drive the vehicle for a long time and do not accelerate quickly. It is inspected immediately.
Follow the Inspection procedure as below.
Items | Inspection | Items | Inspection |
● Engine oil | a. Maintenance interval b. Oil level c. Color and viscosity | ● Air cleaner element | a. Maintenance interval b. Contamination |
● Auto Transaxle fluid | a. Maintenance interval b. Oil level c. Color and viscosity | ● Fuel leak | a. Low pressure fuel hose connection b. Low pressure fuel line leak c. High pressure pipe connection |
● Coolant | a. Maintenance interval b. Coolant level c. Color and viscosity | ● Intake, exhaust system leak | a. Intake hose connection b. Clamp connection c. Worn Intake hose |
● DTC | Refer to DTC guide |
Symptom | Inspection procedure | |
Case1 | ● Engine hesitation and poor acceleration occur at cold starting. But symptoms disappear after warming up. | ● Go to "Poor acceleration at cold starting inspection" |
Case2 | ● Sudden poor power occurs and impossible acceleration above certain rpm while driving. | ● Go to "Poor acceleration inspection" |
Case3 | ● Slight poor power occurs above a certain engine load while driving. | ● Go to "Slight poor power inspection" |
