First of all check damage of harness and terminals : Check terminals for contact resistance, corrosion and deformation.
When fuel filter is not heated although fuel filter heater circuit is normal, Inspect the fuel filter.
IG KEY "OFF", ENGINE "OFF"
Disconnect fuel filter heater connector.
Before measuring resistance, you must calibrate(0Ω) the tester.
Refer to "Multimeter calibration" of detail inspections (Equipment settings).
Measure the resistance between fuel filter heater terminal "1" and "2".
☞ The resistance value is very small, Inspect foreign substances on the fuel filter heater meticulously.
■ Specification : 0.5 Ω ± 10% ( 20℃
Symptom | Inspection procedure | |
Case1 | ● Resistance is high. (Open or over resistance) | ● Heating coil in the fuel filter heater is open and replace the fuel filter heater. ● Engine hard starting occurs or engine starting is impossible at cold starting (below -5℃) because battery power is not supplied to fuel filter heater coil. |
Case2 | ● Resistance is low. (Short) | ● Heating coil in the fuel filter heater is short (short to ground) and fusible link is blown because of over current (Fusible link supplies battery power to fuel filter heater). ● Replace the fuel filter heater. |
