Disconnect the battery cables (A). (Negative first)
Remove the radiator grille upper guard (A).
Disconnect the AFS connector (A), and then remove the air cleaner assembly (B).
Tightening torque :
7.8 ~ 9.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2 lb-ft)
Remove the intercooler inlet hose (A).
Remove the radiator upper shroud (A).
Install a jack under the engine oil pan.
Remove the engine mounting nut (A).
Tightening torque :
88.3 ~ 107.9 N.m (9.0 ~ 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 ~ 79.6 lb-ft)
Remove the alternator.
Compressing the tensioner (A) with a wrench in a left hand by turning it clockwise, start removing the drive belt (B) from the water pump side idler.
Remove the alternator (C) from the bracket after loosening bolts.
Tightening torque :
29.4 ~ 41.2 N.m (3.0 ~ 4.2 kgf.m, 21.7 ~ 30.4 lb-ft)
Disconnect the cable and connector.
Make easy to disconnect the cable and connector after removing alternator from bracket first.
Installation is in the reverse order of removal.
Remove the B terminal mounting nut(A) and rear cover nut(B).
Remove the alternator cover(A) using a screw driver(B).
Loosen the mounting bolts(A) and disconnect the brush holder assembly(B).
Remove the slip ring guide(A).
Remove the pulley(A) using the SST(09373-27000).
Unsolder the 3 stator leads(A).
Loosen the 4 through bolts(A).
Disconnect the rotor(A) and cover(B).
Reassembly is the reverse order of disassembly.
Check that there is continuity between the slip rings(A).
Check that there is no continuity between the slip rings and the rotor(B) or rotor shaft(C).
If the rotor fails either continuity check, replace the alternator.
Check that there is continuity between each pair of leads(A).
Check that there is no continuity between each lead and the coil core.
If the coil fails either continuity check, replace the alternator.
