Removal
1.

Disconnect (-) terminal (A) from the battery.

note

The battery is placed right side of the temporary tire in the trunk.

2.

Remove the DPF assembly and the front muffler.

Disconnect the lambda sensor connector (A), and then remove the turbocharger heat protector (B).

Tightening torque :

14.7 ~ 19.6N.m (1.5 ~ 2.0kgf.m, 10.8 ~ 14.5lb-ft)

Disconnect the exhaust gas temperature sensor connector (A) and DPF differential pressure sensor connector (B).

(3)

Remove the front muffler (A).

Tightening torque :

39.2 ~ 58.8N.m (4.0 ~ 6.0kgf.m, 28.9 ~ 43.4lb-ft)

Remove the DPF brackets (A).

Tightening torque :

40.2 ~ 53.9N.m (4.1 ~ 5.5kgf.m, 29.7 ~ 39.8lb-ft)

Disconnect the DPF differential pressure hoses (A), and then remove the DPF assembly (B).

Tightening torque :

29.4 ~ 34.3N.m (3.0 ~ 3.5kgf.m, 21.7 ~ 25.3lb-ft)

Remove the rear propeller shaft.

(Refer to "Propellar shaft" in DS group)

4.

Remove the front differential carrier assembly.

(Refer to "Differential Carrier Assembly" in DS group)

5.

Support the transaxle with a jack.

note

Be careful not to give a shock or damage to the plastic oil pan.

6.

Remove the cross member (A) by removing the bolts (8ea).

7.

Remove the insulator support bracket (A).

8.

After pulling out the clip and removing the snap pin and washer (A), remove the shift cable (B) from the transmission case.

9.

Disconnect the inhibitor connector (A).

10.

Disconnect the inhibitor wire mounting clip (A) and CKP sensor connector (B).

11.

Remove the CKP sensor (A).

12.

Disconnect the 4WD ECU connector (A) or EMC connector (B).

13.

Remove the mounting bolts (8ea) and the transfer assembly.

14.

Disconnect the solenoid valve connector (A).

15.

Remove the oil cooler tubes (A).

16.

Remove the dust cover (A).

17.

Remove the under cover (A).

18.

Remove the torque converter mounting bolts (A-6ea) by rotating the crank shaft.

Tightening torque :

34 ~ 41 N.m (3.4 ~ 4.1 kgf.m, 24.6 ~ 29.6 lb-ft)

19.

Remove the mounting bolts (A-5ea) lower in the engine side.

Tightening torque :

40 ~ 47 N.m (4.0 ~ 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 ~ 34.0 lb-ft)

20.

Remove the mounting bolt (A) right in the engine side.

Tightening torque :

80 ~ 100 N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)

21.

Remove the mounting bolts (B).

22.

Remove the mounting bolts (A-2ea) for the starter motor.

note

Before removing one mounting bolt on the transmission side and the other bolt for the starter motor, remove the cross member and lower the transmission assembly.

Tightening torque :

50 ~ 65 N.m (5.0 ~ 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 ~ 47.0 lb-ft)

23.

Remove the mounting bolts (A-4ea) on the transmission side.

Tightening torque:

[A] 65 ~ 85 N.m (6.5 ~ 8.5 kgf.m, 47.0 ~ 61.5 lb-ft)

[B] 35 ~ 47 N.m (3.5 ~ 4.7 kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 34.0 lb-ft)

24.

Remove the tansmission assembly by lowering the supporting jack.

caution

Be careful not to damage tubes, hoses or wire.
