Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "CAN Communication line check" procedure.

CAN Communication line check
■ Check short to ground in CAN communication line
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect Battery (-) terminal.

3.

Disconnect BSD connector.

4.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 3(CAN-HIGH) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

5.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 11(CAN-LOW) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Specification : ∞ Ω

6.

Is the measured resisance normal?

▶ Check ESP, BSD(LH) connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Check short to ground in communication line. And then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

■ CAN communication circuit inspection (BSD ECU(LH) ↔ ESP)
7.

Ignition "OFF".

8.

Disconnect BSD ECU connector and ESP connector.

9.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 7(C-CAN-HIGH) of the BSD ECU(LH) connector and Pin No. 26(Standard), 14(Premium)(C-CAN-HIGH) of ESP connector.

10.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 2(C-CAN-LOW) of the BSD ECU(LH) connector and Pin No. 14(Standard), 15(Premium)(C-CAN-LOW) of ESP connector.

Specification : below 1Ω

11.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Check for open & short in harness.

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
