Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

Thoroughly check all connectors(and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

Has a problem been found?

	▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Go to "CAN Communication line check" procedure.

Ignition "OFF".

Connect ECM, ESP, EHPS, BSD connector.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 3(CAN-HIGH) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 11(CAN-LOW) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

	▶ Check BSD(RH) connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. ▶ Go to "CAN communcation line inspection" procedure.
	▶ If the measured value is lower than 10Ω, repair or replace CAN High and CAN Low are short each other. And then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure. ▶ If the measured value is ∞ Ω, repair or replace the open in CAN High / CAN Low circuit. And then, go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF".

Disconnect ECM, EHPS and BSD connector.

Ignition "ON".

Measure voltage between Pin No. 3(CAN-HIGH) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 11(CAN-LOW) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Ignition "OFF".

Disconnect ECM, EHPS and BSD ECU connector.

Measure resistnace Pin No. 3(CAN-HIGH) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Measure resistance Pin No. 11(CAN-LOW) of diagnostic connector and chassis ground.

Is the measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Check for open & short in harness. ▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
