Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors(and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then, Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedue.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" Procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the SPAS Sensor - Rear side Right connector.

3.

Measure the voltage between Pin No.6(Rear sensor power) of the SPAS Sensor-Rear side Right harness connector and chassis ground.

Reference waveform : Below

1) A cursor : Approx 0.5 V

2) B cursor : Approx 8.0 V

3) DTC Detecting Condition : Sensor Supply Power is above 8.5 V or below 7.5 V

Is the measured value within specifications?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" Procedure.

▶ Check the open or short to ground of the power circuit. And then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the battery (-) cable.

3.

Disconnect the SPAS Sensor - Rear Right connector.

4.

Measure the resistance between Pin No.4(ground) of the SPAS Sensor-Rear side Right harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Below approx. 1Ω

5.

Is the measured value within specifications?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" Procedure.

▶ Check the open or short to ground of the power circuit. And then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the SPAS Sensor - Rear Right connector.

3.

Measure the voltage between Pin No.5(signal) of the SPAS Sensor-Rear side Right harness connector and chassis ground.

Is the measured value within specifications?

▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor’s and/or SPAS ECU connector or was repaired and SPAS ECU memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the SPAS sensor and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ In case SPAS ECU is replaced, Refer to "DTC Inspection" procedure in DTC 1702 and perform SPAS Variant coding in the "Vehicle S/W Management" with GDS.
