Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Intake Camshaft Position Sensor connector.

3.

Ignition switch "ON"

4.

Measure the voltage between Pin No. 1 (Power) terminal of Intake Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : B+

5.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inpsection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in power circuit between Intake Camshaft Position Sensor and Battery and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition switch "OFF"

2.

Disconnect battery (-) cable.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Intake Camshaft Position Sensor connector.

4.

Measure the resistance between Pin No. 3 (Ground) terminal of Intake Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. below 1Ω

5.

Re-connect battery (-) cable.

6.

Ignition switch "ON".

7.

Measure the voltage between Pin No. 1 (Power) terminal of Intake Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector and chassis ground.(A)

8.

Measure the voltage between Pin No. 1 (Power) terminal and Pin No. 3 (Ground) terminal of Intake Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector.(B)

Specification : Difference in (A) and (B) is less than 200 mV

9.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Control Inpsection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in ground circuit and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Intake Camshaft Position Sensor connector.

3.

Ignition switch "ON"

4.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 2 (Signal) terminal of Intake Camshaft Position Sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 4.8V

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in signal circuit and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
