Component Inspection
1.

Ignition switch "OFF"

2.

Disconnect battery (-) cable.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and remove brake switch.

4.

Measure the continuity between Pin No. 1 (Brake switch power) terminal and Pin No. 2 (Brake switch) terminal of brake switch with "MVOM" of GDS function. c

Specification : Measure the continuity between Pin No. 1 (Brake switch power) terminal and Pin No. 2 (Brake switch) terminal of brake switch with "MVOM" of GDS function.

5.

Measure the continuity between Pin No. 3 (Brake lamp switch power) terminal and Pin No. 4 (Brake lamp switch) terminal of brake switch with "MVON" GDS function.

Specification : Plunger is pushed : Continuity measured / Plunger is not pushed : Infinite (No continuity measured)

6.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors(and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, Replace the Brake Switch and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

caution

Be careful of fuel pump direction.
