■ Visual Inspection of BPS
1.

Ignition switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and remove the boost pressure sensor.

3.

Inspect for corrosion and contamination on connector terminal of boost pressure sensor.

4.

Check for proper installation of boost pressure sensor and inspect for leakage of O-ring, excessive carbon on sensing area.

5.

Have any problems been found?

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the BPS and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶Go to "Boost Pressure Sensor Output Signal Inspection" procedure.

Ignition switch "OFF"

7.

Connect VMI to GDS and set up the Oscilloscope.(2 Channel):

Channel A (+) : Pin No. 1 (Signal) terminal (BPS Harness Connector)

Channel A (-) : Ground

Ignition switch "ON" & Engine "OFF"

9.

Inspection condition : Ignition switch "ON" & Engine RPM approx. 3000RPM & W.O.T.

Specification :

Ignition switch "ON" : approx. 1.6V

Engine RPM approx. 3000RPM : Max. voltage - approx. 2.60V, Min. voltage - approx. 1.52V

Engine W.O.T. : Max. voltage - approx. 3.08V, Min. voltage - approx. 1.51V

※ Measured value can vary depending on condition of testing vehicle.

10.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Atmospheric Pressure Sensor Inspection" procedure.

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the BPS and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition switch "OFF"

Connect GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).

13.

Ignition switch "ON" & Engine "OFF"

14.

Monitor "Atmospherica Pressure" parameter in "Current Data" with GDS.

Specification : Approx. 1000 hPa

※ Atmospheric pressure sensor outputs 1 atm. at sea level. Check for abnormal atmospheric pressure sensor signal value.

15.

Is the parameter displayed within specification?

▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor’s and/or ECM’s connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the ECM/PCM and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
