Component Inspection
■ ACV Position Sensor Inspection
1.

Ignition switch "OFF"

2.

Connect VMI to GDS and set up the Oscilloscope.(2 Channel):

Channel A (+) : Pin No. 4 (ACV Feedback Signal) terminal (ACV Harness Connector)

Channel A (-) : Ground

3.

Connect GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).

4.

Ignition switch "ON" & Engine "ON"

5.

Inspection condition : From engine idle to ignition switch "OFF"

Specification : ECM operates throttle flap for 3 times when ignition switch is turned "OFF"

Fig.1) Section A : ACV position sensor signal voltage when engine idle. Voltage is maintained at approx. 4V

Section B : ACV position sensor signal voltage when ignition switch is turned off. ECM operates throttle flap for 3 times. Voltage is at between approx. 4V and 0.54V

Section C : ACV position sensor signal voltage when ECM cuts the supply power after ignition switch is turned off. Voltage is 0V when ECM cuts the sensor supply power

6.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Fault is intermittent caused by poor contact in the sensor’s and/or ECM’s connector or was repaired and ECM memory was not cleared. Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage. Repair or replace as necessary and go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the ACV and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

caution

When installing component, tighten it within specification.

If component is dropped, check for proper operation. The internal damage may be present.

caution

When ACV is replaced, perform "Essential work after component replacement. Otherwise, vehicle performance and emission control may not work properly until auto learning is completed.

Vehicle S/W Management
■ In case of ACV is replaced, perform follwoing procedures;
1.

Ignition switch "OFF"

2.

Connect GDS to Data Link Connector (DLC).

3.

Ignition switch "ON" & Engine "OFF"

4.

Perform "Essential Work After Component Replacement" in "Vehicle S/W Management" with GDS.

5.

Select "Throttle Valve"
