Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IATS) uses a Negative Temperature Characteristics (NTC) thermistor and senses intake air temperature. Two intake air temperature sensors are installed in this engine.

IATS #1 is in Mass Air Flow Sensor (MAFS) and IATS #2 is installed on post intercooler pipe. IATS #1 measures the air temperature entering turbo-charger and the IATS #2 measures the compressed air temperature from the turbo-charger into intake manifold.

By comparing these air temperature values, more accurate measurement of intake air temperature is possible. ECM uses these air temperature signals to perform EGR control correction and fuel injection quantity correction.
