Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors(and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "CAN Communication line check" procedure.

CAN Communication line check
■ CAN communication circuit inspection (BSD ECU ↔ ECM/PCM(EMS))
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect BSD ECU(LH) connector and ECM/PCM(EMS) connector.

3.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 7(C-CAN-HIGH) of the BSD ECU(LH) connector and Pin No. 10(C-CAN-HIGH) of the PCM connector.(3.8MPI/3.8GDI Only)

4.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 7(C-CAN-HIGH) of the BSD ECU(LH) connector and Pin No. 88(C-CAN-HIGH) of the PCM connector.(5.0GDI Only)

5.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 2(C-CAN-LOW) of the BSD ECU(LH) connector and Pin No. 35(C-CAN-LOW) of the ECM connector.(3.8MPI/3.8GDI Only)

6.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 2(C-CAN-LOW) of the BSD ECU(LH) connector and Pin No. 66(C-CAN-LOW) of the ECM connector.(5.0GDI Only)

Specification : below 1Ω

7.

Is the measured resistance within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Check for open & short in harness.

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
