Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminal condition. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical systems or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair or replace as necessary and then, Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedue.

▶ Go to "LIN Communication Circuit Inspection" Procedure.

LIN Communication Line Inspection
■ Check short to ground in LIN Communication line
1.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"

2.

Disconnect the All SPAS Sensor and SPAS ECU connector.

3.

Measure the resistance between Pin No.8(LIN2) of the SPAS ECU harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : ∞ Ω

4.

Is the measured voltage within specification?

▶ Go to "Check short to battery in LIN Communication line" Procedure.

▶ Check the open or short to ground of the LIN Communication circuit. And then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF"

6.

Disconnect the All SPAS Sensor and SPAS ECU connector.

7.

Measure the voltage between Pin No.8(LIN1) of the SPAS ECU harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 0V

8.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, replace the SPAS sensor and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ In case SPAS ECU is replaced, Refer to "DTC Inspection" procedure in DTC 1702 and perform SPAS Variant coding in the "Vehicle S/W Management" with GDS.

▶ Check the open or short to battery of the LIN Communication circuit. And then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
