Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

Has a problem been found?

	▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Go to "Solenoid Pull Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gate Select Actuator connector.

Ignition "ON"

Measure voltage between Pin No. 13 (Solenoid Pull) terminal of Gate Select Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "Solenoid Push Circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in power circuit between Gate Select Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gate Select Actuator connector.

Ignition "ON"

Measure voltage between Pin No. 7 (Solenoid Push) terminal of Gate Select Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in power circuit between Gate Select Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gate Select Actuator connector.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 1 (Ground) terminal of Gate Select Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "Shield Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in ground circuit between Gate Select Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gate Select Actuator connector.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 6 (Ground) terminal of Gate Select Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Substitute with a known-good "Gate Select Actuator" and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "Gear Shift Actuator" as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in ground circuit between Gate Select Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
