Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

Has a problem been found?

	▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gear Shift Actuator connector.

Ignition "ON"

Measure voltage between Pin No. 2 (power) terminal of Gear Shift Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "L1(U) Circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in power circuit between Gear Shift Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gear Shift Actuator connector.

Ignition "ON"

Measure voltage between Pin No. 1 (L1) terminal of Gear Shift Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "L2(V) Circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in circuit between Gear Shift Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gear Shift Actuator connector.

Ignition "ON"

Measure voltage between Pin No. 13 (L2) terminal of Gear Shift Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Go to "L3(W) Circuit Inspection" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in circuit between Gear Shift Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ignition "OFF"

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect Gear Shift Actuator connector.

Ignition "ON"

Measure voltage between Pin No. 7 (L3) terminal of Gear Shift Actuator harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Is measured value within specification?

	▶ Substitute with a known-good "Gear Shift Actuator" and check for proper operation. If the problem is corrected, replace "Gear Shift Actuator" as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
	▶ Repair open or short in circuit between Gear Shift Actuator and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.
