Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness and terminals.

Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and then go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Disconnect TGS Lever Sensor connector.

3.

Ignition "ON"

4.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 1 (Power) terminal of TGS Lever Sensor harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification : B+

5.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to " Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in power circuit between TGS Lever Sensor and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect TGS Lever Sensor connector.

3.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 2 (Ground) terminal of TGS Lever Sensor harness conenctor and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. below 1 Ω

4.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to " CAN Communication Line Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair open or short in ground circuit between TGS Lever Sensor and TCM and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

CAN Communication Line Inspection
1.

Ignition "ON"

2.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 3 (CAN High) terminal of TGS Lever Sensor and chassis ground.

3.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 7 (CAN Low) terminal of TGS Lever Sensor and chassis ground.

Specification : CAN High Voltage - Approx. 3.28 V / CAN Low Voltage - Approx. 1.87 V

4.

Is measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair short in C-CAN Communication circuit or replace as necessary and then go to "Verification of vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Fault might be intermittent and caused either by poor contact in connectors or wiring harness, or it has been repaired and control module memory is not cleared yet. Thoroughly check terminal of battery, all connectors (and connections) for looseness, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, and/or damage.
