Installed in the center muffler, PM sensor detects PM value and monitors DPF.
The PM value detected in the DPF is sent to ECM via CAN communication and is used by the ECM to check DPF for defects.
PM (Particulate Matter): Minute particles
The exhaust gas flows into the sensor.
The particulate matter (PM) in the exhaust gas is adsorbed into the electrodes.
The absorbed particulate matter (PM) creates the conducting pathway.
As the adsrobed PM increases, the current flowing through the conducting pathway increases.
If the current exceeds the standard value, the sensor burns off the absorbed PM by heating it.
DPF can be checked by comparing the measured value from PM sensor with the value from ECM.
