Remove the timing chain cover.
(Refer to Timing System - “Timing Chain Cover”)
Remove the oil level gauge guide.
(Refer to Lubrication System - “Oil Level Gauge & Pipe”)
Remove the oil pump cover (A), the inner rotor (B) and the outer rotor (C).
Remove the plug (A), spring (B) and relief plunger (C).
Inspect the relief plunger.
Coat the plunger with engine oil and check that it falls smoothly into the plunger hole by its own weight.
If necessary, replace timing chain cover.
Inspect the rotor side clearance.
Using a feeler gauge and precision straight edge, measure the clearance between the inner rotors and precision straight edge.
If the side clearance is greater than maximum, replace the rotors as a set.
If necessary, replace the timing chain cover.
Side clearance:
0.040 ~ 0.090 mm (0.00157 ~ 0.00354 in.)
Inspect the oil pump body width.
Using a vernier calipers, measure the width of oil pump body.
If necessary, replace the timing chain cover.
Body width:
8.02 ~ 8.05 mm (0.3157 ~ 0.3169 in.)
Inspect the inner rotor width.
Using a vernier calipers, measure the width of inner rotor.
If necessary, replace the rotor.
Inner rotor width :
7.96 ~ 7.98 mm (0.3134 ~ 03142 in.)
Install relief plunger (A) and spring (B) into the oil pump cover hole, and install the plug (C).
Tightening torque :
39.2 ~ 49.0 N.m (4.0 ~ 5.0 kgf.m, 28.9 ~ 36.1 lb-ft)
Install the oil pump.
Place the outer rotor (A) and inner rotor (B) into the timing chain cover with the marks facing the oil pump cover side.
Install the oil pump cover (C) to timing chain cover with the screws.
Tightening torque :
5.9 ~ 8.8 N.m (0.6 ~ 0.9 kgf.m, 4.3 ~ 6.5 lb-ft)
Install the oil level gauge guide.
(Refer to Lubrication System - “Oil Level Gauge & Pipe”)
Install the timing chain cover.
