Prolonged and repeated contact with mineral oil will result in the removal of natural fats from the skin, leading to dryness, irritation and dermatitis. In addition, used engine oil contains potentially harmful contaminants which may cause skin cancer.
Exercise caution in order to minimize the duration and frequency of contact of your skin to used oil. Wear protective clothing and gloves. Wash your skin thoroughly with soap and water, or use waterless hand cleaner, to remove any used engine oil. Do not use gasoline, thinner, or solvent.
To preserve the environment, dispose of used oil and oil filter only at designated disposal sites.
Drain the engine oil.
Remove the oil filler cap.
Loosen the oil filter cap slowly until its o-ring comes out.
When doing this, be careful as oil may overflow.
Remove the oil drain plug, and drain the oil into a container.
Replace the oil filter (B).
Remove the oil filter upper cap (A).
Replace the O-ring (C, D) of oil filter cap with a new one.
Inspect the threads and O-ring (C, D). Wipe off the seat on the oil filter cap, then apply a light coat of oil to the oil filter upper cap O-ring (C, D).
Install the new oil filter by hand to the upper cap.
After the rubber seal seats, tighten the oil filter clockwise.
Tightening torque :
31.5 ~ 38.5 N.m (3.2 ~ 3.9 kgf.m, 23.2 ~ 28.4 lb-ft)
Refill with engine oil.
Clean and install the oil drain plug with a new gasket.
Tightening torque :
34.3 ~ 44.1 N.m (3.5 ~ 4.5 kgf.m, 25.3 ~ 32.5 lb-ft)
Fill with fresh engine oil.
Fill half amount of total oil first and then do the rest after 1 minute or more.
Oil Capacity
Total : 5.7 L (1.51 U.S.gal., 6.02 U.S.qt., 5.01 lmp.qt.)
Oil pan : 4.8 L (1.27 U.S.gal., 5.07 U.S.qt., 4.22 lmp.qt.)
Drain and refill including oil filter :
5.3 L (1.40 U.S.gal., 5.60 U.S.qt., 4.66 lmp.qt.)
Install the oil filler cap.
Start engine and check for oil leakage.
Recheck the engine oil level.
Check the engine oil quality.
Check the oil deterioration, entry of water, discoloring of thinning.
If the quality is visibly poor, replace the oil.
Check the engine oil level.
Warm up and then stop the engine. After 5 minutes of stopping the engine, the oil level should be between the "L" and "F" marks on the dipstick.
If lower than this, check for leakage and add oil up to the "F" mark.
Do not fill with engine oil above the "F" mark.
Recommendation
ACEA C2 / 0W-30
Allowed oil grade
ACEA C2 or C3
Recommended long life engine oil : Shell ultra helix AP (C3 / 5W-30), Shell ultra helix AP-L (C2 / 5W-30)
Allowed SAE viscosity
For best performance and maximum protection of all types of operation, select only those lubricants which :
Satisfy the requirement of the ACEA classification.
Have proper SAE grade number for expected ambient temperature range.
Lubricants that do not have both an SAE grade number and ACEA service classification on the container should not be used.
The ACEA certified engine oil is required as a service engine oil. Only in case that ACEA certified engine oil is not available, the API certified engine oil (API CH-4 or above) is allowed restrictively.
For vehicles equipped with DPF, the service engine oil quality should meet the ACEA C2/C3 grade. However, oil refill with small amount of ACEA B4 grade between oil change intervals is possible.
