Removal and Installation
note

Disassembly of the thermostat would have an adverse effect, causing a lowering of cooling efficiency.

1.

Drain the engine coolant so its level is below thermostat.

2.

Disconnect the radiator upper hose.

(Refer to Coolant System - "Radiator Hose")

3.

Disconnect the water temperature sensor connector (A).

4.

Remove the water inlet fitting (A) and thermostat (B).

Tightening torque :

24.5 ~ 34.3 N.m (2.0 ~ 2.5kgf.m, 18.1 ~ 25.3 Ib-ft)

5.

Remove the battery and battery tray.

(Refer to Engine Electrical System - "Battery")

6.

Remove the air duct and air cleaner assembly.

(Refer to Intake And Exhaust System - "Air Cleaner)

7.

Disconnect the heater hose.

(Refer to Coolant System - "Heater Hose")

8.

Remove the thermostat housing.

Tightening torque :

9.8 ~ 11.8 N.m (1.0 ~ 1.2kgf.m, 7.2 ~ 8.7 Ib-ft)

9.

Install in the reverse order of removal.

10.

Fill with engine coolant.

(Refer to Cooling System - "Coolant").

11.

Start engine and check for leaks.
