Component Inspection
■ Check Alternator performance
1.

IG KEY "OFF".

2.

Connnect CH A probe to COM signal terminal(Pin No.1) of Alternator connector and CH B probe to FR signal terminal(Pin No.3) of Alternator connector.

3.

Warm up the engine to normal operating temperature.

4.

Measure signal waveform of COM and FR.

Specification : Refer to Signal Waveform & Data

COM → Duty(+) Approx. 34%

Duty(-) Approx. 66%,

FR → Duty(+) Approx. 58%

Duty(-) Approx. 42%S

COM → Duty(+) Approx. 34%

Duty(-) Approx. 66%,

FR → Duty(+) Approx. 96%

Duty(-) Approx. 4%

Duty(+) from FR terminal is increased if electrical loads are ON(Head Lamp and Defrost are ON) PCM controls generation of alternator with duty from FR terminal when electrical Loads turn on.

■ Confirm Part Inspection
5.

Does the Alternator operate properly? (Check variation)

▶ Go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If problem still occurs, replace Alternator and then go to "Verification of Vechicle Repair" procedure.
