Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the APS connector.

3.

Ignition Switch "ON"

4.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 2(APS 2 power) of the APS connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 5V

5.

Is the measured value within specification?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Disconnect battery (-) cable.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the APS connector.

4.

Measure resistance of Pin No. 6(APS 2 ground) of the APS connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. below 1Ω

5.

Ignition switch "OFF"

6.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the APS connector.

7.

Ignition switch "ON"

8.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 2(APS 2 power) of the APS connector and chassis ground.(A)

9.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 2(APS 2 power) and Pin No. 6(APS 2 ground) of the APS connector.(B)

Specification : Difference (A) and (B) is less then 200 mV

10.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Signal Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the APS connector.

3.

Ignition Switch "ON"

4.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 1(APS 2 signal) of the APS connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 0V

5.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

6.

Disconnect battery (-) cable.

7.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the APS and ECM/PCM connector.

8.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 6(APS 2 signal) of the APS connector and Pin No. 60(APS 2 signal) of the ECM/PCM connector.

Specification : Approx. below 1Ω

9.

Is the measured value within specification?
