Turn ignition switch OFF and disconnect the negative (-) battery cable.
Remove the ECM.
(Refer to Engine Control / Fuel System - “Engine Control Module (ECM)”)
Remove the brake fluid from the master cylinder reservoir with a syringe.
Be sure to completely remove foreign substances from around brake fluid reservoir and cap before opening the reservoir cap. If not, it may cause contamination of brake fluid and deterioration in braking performance.
Do not spill brake fluid on the vehicle, it may damage the paint; if brake fluid does contact the paint, wash it off immediately with water.
Disconnect the brake tube (A) from the master cylinder by loosening the tube flare nut.
Tightening torque:
18.6 ~ 22.6 N.m (1.9 ~ 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 ~ 16.6 lb-ft)
Pull up the lock of the HECU connector and then disconnect the connector (B) .
Loosen the flare nuts and then remove the brake tube (A).
Tightening torque :
18.6 ~ 22.6 N.m (1.9 ~ 2.3 kgf.m, 13.7 ~ 16.6 lb-ft)
Disconnect the brake tubes (B) from the HECU by unlocking the nuts counterclockwise with a spanner.
Tightening torque :
12.7 ~ 16.7 N.m (1.3 ~ 1.7 kgf.m, 9.4 ~ 12.3 lb-ft)
Remove the engine room under cover. [G2.0 NU GDI only]
(Refer to Engine Mechanical System - "Engine Room Under Cover")
Install the jack under the edge of lower oil pan to support the engine. [G2.0 NU GDI only]
Put the rubber block between the jack and oil pan to avoid damaging the oil pan.
Remove the engine mounting support bracket (A). [G2.0 NU GDI only]
Tightening torque :
78.5 ~ 98.1 N.m (8.0 ~ 10.0 kgf.m, 57.9 ~ 72.3 lb-ft)
Slowly lower the jack. [G2.0 NU GDI only]
Loosen the HECU bracket nuts (A) and then remove HECU and bracket.
Tightening torque :
19.6 ~ 29.4 N.m (2.0 ~ 3.0 kgf.m, 14.5 ~ 21.7 lb-ft)
Never attempt to disassemble the HECU.
Never shock the HECU.
Remove the bolts and then remove the bracket from HECU.
Tightening torque :
7.8 ~ 9.8 N.m (0.8 ~ 1.0 kgf.m, 5.8 ~ 7.2 lb-ft)
