Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor connection. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration,or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ go to "Squib Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Squib Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition "OFF".

2.

Disconnect (-) terminal cable from battery and wait for 1 minutes or more.

3.

Disconnect Curtain Airbag -Passenger module and connect the dummy and dummy adapter to main harness connector.

note

If dummy and dummy adaptor are not able to be prepared, use a known-good Curtain Airbag -Passenger or 2Ω resistor.

4.

Connect (-) terminal cable to battery and Ignition "ON" & Engine "OFF" and wait for 30 seconds or more.

5.

Connect GDS to Data Link Connector(DLC) and clear DTC with GDS and diagnose again.

6.

Are any DTCs stored in the system?

▶ Go to "Main harness Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Carefully re-do this troubleshooting guide steps.

▶ If problem still occurs, replace Curtain Airbag -Driver module and then go to "Verification of Vechicle Repair" procedure.

Main Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition switch "OFF".

2.

Disconnect the battery (-) terminal cable from the battery and wait at least one minutes.

3.

Disconnect PCAB and SRSCM connector.

4.

Measure resistance between terminal pin No.2(Low) of PCAB harness connector and pin No.25(Low) of SRSCM(Airbag ECU) harness connector.

5.

Measure resistance between terminal pin No.1(High) of PCAB harness connector and pin No.26(High) of SRSCM(Airbag ECU) harness connector.

Specification : Approx. below 1 Ω

Fig.1) GDS Multimeter resistance check

6.

Are the measured value within specification?

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, Replace the SRSCM and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

caution

Please be careful handling the SRSCM. The seat belt pre-tensioner, curtain airbag and side airbag can be operated when the SRSCM has an impact and rotation when ignition switch is "ON". It may be caused serious risk.

▶ If no problems were found with the circuits or connectors, Replace the SRSCM main circuit and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
