Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Power Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the EEGR actuator connector.

3.

Ignition Switch "ON"

4.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 4(power) of the EEGR connector and chassis ground.

Specification : B+

5.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Disconnect battery (-) cable.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the EEGR actuator connector.

4.

Measure resistance of Pin No. 2(EGR feedback ground) of the EEGR connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. below 1Ω

5.

Ignition switch "OFF"

6.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the EEGR actuator connector.

7.

Ignition switch "ON"

8.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 3(EGR feedback power) of the EEGR connector and chassis ground.(A)

9.

Measure voltage between Pin No. 3(EGR feedback power) and Pin No. 2(EGR feedback ground) of the EEGR connector.(B)

Specification : Difference (A) and (B) is less then 200 mV

10.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Control Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Control Circuit Inspection
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the EEGR connector.

3.

Ignition Switch "ON"

4.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 1(EGR feedback signal) of the EEGR connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Average value approx. 11.5V (Duty, Refer to Fig. below)

5.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Component Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
