Terminal and Connector Inspection
1.

Many malfunctions in the electrical system are caused by poor harness(es) and terminals. Faults can also be caused by interference from other electrical systems, and mechanical or chemical damage.

2.

Thoroughly check connectors for looseness, poor connection, bending, corrosion, contamination, deterioration, or damage.

3.

Has a problem been found?

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

▶ Go to "Control Circuit Inspection" procedure.

Power Circuit Inspection
■ Check VIS actuator position sensor power circuit
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the VSA connector.

3.

Ignition Switch "ON"

4.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 3(position sensor power) of the VSA connector and chassis ground.

Specification : Approx. 5V

5.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Ground Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.

Ground Circuit Inspection
■ Check VIS actuator position sensor ground circuit
1.

Ignition Switch "OFF"

2.

Disconnect battery (-) cable.

3.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the VSA connector.

4.

Measure resistance between Pin No. 5(position sensor ground) of the VSA and chassis ground.

Specification : ∞ Ω

5.

Ignition switch "OFF"

6.

Refer to "Shop Manual" and disconnect the VSA connector.

7.

Ignition switch "ON"

8.

Measure voltage of Pin No. 3(position sensor power) of the VSA connector and chassis ground.(A)

9.

Measure voltage between No. 3(position sensor power) and Pin No. 5(ground) of the VSA connector.(B)

Specification : Difference (A) and (B) is less then 200 mV

10.

Is the measured value withing specification?

▶ Go to "Signal Circuit Inspection" procedure.

▶ Repair as necessary and go to "Verification of Vehicle Repair" procedure.
